Let’s talk to see if our programs are for you.
How We Work - What to Expect
Below is an outline of our typical new client workflow. Our intention is to provide excellent service, with a clear and timely process. We welcome feedback at any time.
You will find that our practice is highly personable, friendly, and we take time to get to know each and every client.
The fastest and most efficient way for us to respond to any referral or initial inquiry is for you to submit the “Get in Touch” form at the bottom of this page. We will be notified and respond ASAP.

This initial call typically takes place with our Program Director, and is intended to be an informational call for both parties. We will provide an overview of our programs and answer any initial questions around how we generally work with clients.
If the client would like to proceed with the Smartbone™ Consultation, we can schedule the appointment with Dr. Potters at that time.
-
We begin working with any new client by scheduling a comprehensive, 2-hour appointment with Dr. Potters, so that we can get to know your personal health concerns, goals, and emotions related to bone health, including any secondary conditions or individual challenges, which must be considered in any medical coaching plan.
It is preferred that this meeting take place in person at our facility in Westlake Village, CA, however if need be we can also do this virtually via video call.
Prior to the appointment, the client will submit a Medical Intake Form, along with any recent test results that may be available. Completion of this step in advance of the appointment will make our time together as productive as possible.
During the Consultation, you can expect:
Review of Pre-Submitted Medical History Intake Form
Review of Pre-Submitted Test Results, (if available) such as: Dexa (DXA) Scan, Trabecular Bone Score (TBS), PINP (Procollagen type 1 N-terminal propeptide) , CTX (C-Telopeptide Blood Test), CBC (Complete blood count, common panel used in most medical examinations), Urine Testing, or certain Function Health tests.
Discussion around existing concerns, goals, and emotions related to bone health or other conditions that add complexities to achieving those goals
Discussion around action items and next steps if continuing to work together in our Intensive program.
Post-Meeting written re-cap including individual assessment, feedback around concerns and goals discussed, and a list of concrete recommendations for future actions designed to address those concerns and goals.
A follow up call to check in and discuss next steps if appropriate.

The Smartbone™ Intensive, brought to you only by The Smart of Living is a 6-Month, high-touch, individualized program, which is hyper-focused on improving bone-health and rooted primarily in the principles of lifestyle science and functional medicine. The program is intended to complement your existing medical care, whether or not you are currently taking medication for bone health. We are currently taking a limited number of clients in person at our Westlake Village, CA location, and also accept clients on a hybrid or remote basis.
As the program name states, this is an intensive program which requires commitment and dedication from all participants. Improving bone health involves a variety of factors and does not happen overnight, so this program was purposely designed to dive deeply into appropriate support across areas like nutrition, safe movement, posture and more, ideally to jumpstart each client’s journey towards stronger bones and create measurable improvements.
If needed or desired, the 6-Month Smartbone™ Intensive program may be repeated, and we also offer other options for continued support, both 1:1 and as part of our alumni community.
